We all used iodine when we were kids - a scratch here a graze there - a dab of iodine on a cotton-wool ball made it better. They were right - it does!
Iodine was an old stalwart in theatre during my nursing training back in the 1960s. Gowned and masked doctors and nurses liberally wiping the area for the scalpel, with an iodine soaked gauze dab held by artery forceps - to kill the germs. And yes that is right, iodine is a powerful antiseptic. Look on the next page to see how more recent studies show how it can stop the polio virus from entering and infecting the cells - and some doctors were using it in polio epidemic days.
IODINE for SKIN CANCER
My attention was drawn to this recently when
I saw claims that iodine, painted on suspicious skin lesions can eliminate
the risk of skin cancer.
So I tried it! And it is working!
I have lots of potential skin cancer spots, a
rare genetic skin condition my skin specialist told me 30 years ago, that
may turn into skin cancer. So I have been painting iodine on a swab stick
onto any spot on my skin that is dry or rough, discoloured, raised, skin
tags, etc. I have found that ordinary good skin just stains yellow.
Suspicious spots are staining darker and may sting for a while. (I
figure this means it is doing something. I am using the iodine tincture.)
These areas, painted every day, eventually form a scab which when it comes
off, leaves new good skin underneath that is no longer dry and rough.
Keep painting until you have good skin restored - may take 1-2 months.
I was also surprised to notice a reduction in ankle swelling occurring.
Apparently iodine helps with lymph drainage as well.
Like the skin on your body, the scalp renews itself every 28 days by shedding dead cells and allowing new, healthy ones to emerge.
SO HERE’S WHAT TO DO to get more iodine.
Every day after your bath or shower, paint iodine
on suspicious spots or on an area about the size of a $20 note. Your
body will absorb what it needs thru’ the skin. When the stain is
taking more than 24 hours to disappear, your levels have improved and you
can stop painting for a while. Vary the spot painted to avoid
irritating the skin. For skin cancers and psoriasis, paint spot until
new good skin comes & dry skin’s gone. Use spray for leg ulcers Paint
cold sore or herpes at first sign to stop it forming
Chemists may have a number of forms of iodine.
Betadine is a water soluble range that includes an iodine paint, iodine
spray (useful for leg ulcers and wounds that are sore), iodine mouth gargle
for sore throats, iodine cream and iodine ointment (useful for cold sores).
It is also available as a tincture (Gold Cross brand) for painting - this
has potassium iodide as well which makes it a bit stronger. All are
now weak solutions so you may need to paint more of it.

| SKIN CANCER - any abnormal dry skin patch that doesn’t go away - try painting it with iodine daily. But first -make sure it is not melanoma. Any sore or lesion that refuses to heal should be regarded with suspicion and brought to the attention of your doctor. Irritable skin patches that are of a reddish brown colour, a dominant coloured pimple or any spot at all that continues to grow even without any sign of discomfort should also be regarded with suspicion along with any abnormal growths or the appearance of patches of scarred looking tissue, even invisible ones. If the doctor is not concerned about removing your suspicious area, paint daily with iodine for a month or so until the scab falls off and good new skin appears. | |||

Iodine used for acute Polio in 1950s !!
Surprise! surprise!!
First I found Vitamin C was used in USA by Dr
Klenner 1930s - 1950s to help cure polio, then Dr Neveu used
Magnesium in France 1950s for polio and now Dr JF Edward, a Canadian
doctor, used iodine in the 1950s to treat polio!
Dr Edward studied Canadian polio epidemics and concluded that polio is related to iodine deficiency. Dr Edward then cured, as well as prevented, polio with small doses of iodine in the 1950s.
The Manitoba Medical Review published his work ”Iodine: its use in the treatment of poliomyelitis & allied diseases.” in 1954.
And more recent research on iodine and polio by: Alvarez et al: "Mechanisms of Inactivation of Poliovirus by Chlorine Dioxide and Iodine", in Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Vol. 44, No. 5, pp. 1064-1071, (1982).
Alvarez showed that, at pH=10, T=25° C. with a contact time of about 15 minutes, Polio 1 could be killed to the 90% - 99% level using about 1-2 ppm of iodine from a tincture. He also found that iodine inactivates Polio 1 by not allowing it to penetrate the host cells of the body. ( We know that the polio virus enters the cell using a polio-receptor gateway on body cells - obviously iodine stops entry there.)
*
But aside with the history of iodine with polio - what might it mean for us today? There are many references to iodine on the Internet but if you want to start looking, I found and have used a lot of useful info from a website by Dr Mark Sircus OMD Director International Medical Veritas Association, with his article: Iodine: Bring Back the Universal Nutrient Medicine http://www.danreid.org/health-alerts-iodine
We all know that iodine is needed for thyroid
function but IODINE also helps with: auto immune thyroiditis
incl Hashimoto’s and Grave’s Disease, fatigue, CFS, diabetes - corrects
insulin levels, blood pressure - normalises readings, all cancers but particularly
with breast, ovarian, uterine, prostate and skin cancer, polycystic ovary
disease, fibrocystic breast disease, heart disease, cold sores and
herpes (& shingles - herpes zoster), fibromyalgia, infections, leg
ulcers, psoriasis, headaches and migraines, depression and also reduces
cholesterol.
Magnesium and iodine deficiencies are the causes of autoimmune thyroiditis.
Iodine deficiency in women predisposed them to
breast cancer, and giving replacement Thyroid hormones to iodine-deficient
women increases further their risk for breast cancer!
Two thirds of the body's iodine is found in the thyroid gland. After the thyroid gland, the breasts are the second main glandular storage site for iodine. The relationship between breast illness and iodine deficiency has been reported for over 100 years.
And from work by endocrinologist Dr Guy Abrahams:
Iodine is detected in every organ and tissue in the body. We might
debate about the optimum dosage but we should find quick agreement that
iodine is absolutely necessary for a healthy thyroid as well as healthy
ovaries, breasts and prostate.
Iodine is as safe as magnesium chloride with a track record of 180 years of use in medicine.
In an age of increasing toxic exposures we all
need more not less iodine because it has very specific protective effects
against several common poisons like fluoride, bromide, and to a lesser
extent it helps eliminate lead and mercury from the body.
Iodine is available in small amounts in some salts but most of the iodine evaporates while sitting on the kitchen table.
By Dr Derry: Iodine is by far the best
antibiotic, antiviral and antiseptic of all time. It will also
kill abnormal cells floating around in the body at remote sites from the
original cancer.
Iodine in tissues provides an inhospitable environment for cancer cells to grow. It neutralises carcinogens, removes abnormal cells, kills viruses and neutralises toxins from micro-organisms.
Drs Abraham, Flechas and Brownstein tested more than 4,000 patients taking iodine in daily doses ranging from 12.5 to 50 mg, and in those with diabetes, up to 100 mg a day. These investigators found that "iodine does indeed reverse fibrocystic disease; their diabetic patients require less insulin; hypothyroid patients, less thyroid medication; symptoms of fibromyalgia resolve, and patients with migraine headaches stop having them.” and "We can expect even better results when iodine is combined with magnesium chloride.”
